Ann Johnston,
Lancer Sponsor

Greetings to all from the Lancers! The Lancers have been extremely busy all summer working on routines and fund raising projects and I think that the girls' efforts are truly paying off.

The first part of the summer was spent preparing a routine to take to camp at Johns Hopkins the third week in July. Twenty-three of our members participated in the three day camp and had a good time coming together as a team as well as developing team dance skills. The team was awarded an Encore Award and a bid to Nationals for their outstanding team routine.Krista Sandosky and Lisa Tunbarello were recognized as being outstanding dancers at the camp. Allison Davis was recognized for her outstanding toe touches (Thank you, Diana!) and Krista Sandosky was recognized for her leaps/turns. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Jeanne Upchurch who attended camp as a chaperone for her willingness to share her outstanding dancing ability with all of the campers!

The end of the summer was spent practicing our parade routines, preparing football routines and getting ready for the pep rally. In addition we held two car washes and a yard sale and were very pleased with the results. Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Barron for coordinating the yard sale at their home. The Lancers are also sporting new fringes on their uniforms, which was an enormous task handled by a group of Lancer parents. Many thanks to Mrs. Adkins, Mrs. Barron, Mrs. DiGangi, Mrs. Herr, Mrs. Keller, Mrs. Nieves-Khouw, Mrs. Olean, Mrs. Pirnat, Mrs. Tumbarello, Mrs. Upchurch, and Mrs. Watts. You have helped to make a great looking group look even better.

We were disappointed that we were unable to strut our stuff in Atlantic City, but we are having a good time performing for our home fans and watching a winning football team.

I think you will agree that our kickline with 26 members is quite impressive and our first routines have been outstanding. Congratulations to the Lancers and their officers Captain Jessie Upchurch, Co-Captain Erica Doxzen, and Lieutenant Jen Pirnat for their outstanding efforts so far.

I would like to thank all of the parents for all of their continued support and assistance as needed. Special thanks go out to Stacie Yakowenko and Linda Pirnat for helping behind the scenes. This is a truly fun and talented group of girls to work with and I look forward to an exciting year!
