Question by Mathematician: What defines and characterizes a music band?
I want to know what defines and characterizes a music band. I am not interested in a glossary definition since they tend to be simplistic and not very thorough.

Please be as detailed as possible, and include any elements and properties that should be present in a band.

Thankfulness in advance.

Well this Seems like a VERY open finished question. So i’m gong to give a very broad resolution.

A ‘Band’ consists of more than 1 persons in who perform/confirmation music. This is uncommon than a composer/producer who controls everything. The individual band members usually get more of a say in the composition and tone of their instruments, as opposed to a symphony who do everything as it is on paper for them to do.

Also, the band should usually consist of 1 or more members on each of the following categories of instruments:
Bass
Rhythm
lead/melody

now the way that these part are carried out are uncommon in uncommon genres. In a modern Rock/Pop Setting it would usually be as follows:
Bass- Bass guitar Player
Rhythm- Bassist, Guitarist, Drummer, Keyboardist
Lead- Guitarist, Keyboardist, Singer

But this is not set in marble. It really Could be any combination of instruments as long as it is possible to do what category they are in(you probably don’t want a normal Guitarist doing the bass line with a fender strat 6 string, or haveing the drums be the melody(although possible, it’s not usually ideal)).

One thing to keep in mind, is that if you leave out one of the 3 vital categories(Bass, Rhythm, Lead), then the composition usually will not sound fleshed out or full. Like tiresome to start a band lacking a capability of bass. If you had just a Ukulele, a high pitched singer, and someone on the ‘cowbell’ (not a full drumset… a single cowbell), you would have somthing that has NO lowend to the music and a really muddled sound because all the sounds would be of the same frequencies and would conflict with eachother.

So, i hope this helps
